Return

The profit or loss you make on an investment, usually expressed as a percentage.

A 10% return means your investment grew by 10%. Returns come from two sources: price appreciation (your investment is worth more than you paid) and income (dividends from stocks or rental income from property).

Example

Ahmed invests £1,000. A year later it is worth £1,080. His return is £80, or 8%.
